Banana.Island.Ghost

So there is a current trend in the nollywood industry right now, the urge to churn out “comedy” movies with less content. This trend started, initially from Jenifa, and went full scale to 30 days in Atlanta, Wedding, 10 days in Sun city, and the rest.

Kudos, to the Nollywood industry as they have gotten good with film production, I will say right now, it’s top notch, that’s not too hard to miss in the movies. Having overcome production issues, I feel the industry should focus more on the content of whatever movie being released. Yes, we all love comedy, but let there be some story to it, or perhaps make it a full comedy with no story, which I frankly doubt would work.

Recently saw a movie “Banana Island Ghost”, and i was totally upset with the storyline. The production was top notch, and also i liked the fact they were promoting our Lagos, scenes like; Third Mainland Bridge, and some areas at Victoria Island, showed how beautiful Lagos is.

Anyway, this post is for some errors I observed while watching the movie, for a movie with some much hype and promotion, they should not be caught with some flaws.

1. 2017 Coke Bottle in 1988

At the hospital, when he went to see his mother; they could have as well scrapped the part of him, not holding a coke bottle, or make an edit of how the coke bottle looked in the year 1988

2. Bobby Schmurda

In one of the last scenes, I was wondering why a bobby schmurda poster was up in the casino owner office as wanted??. Can anyone explain that me.

3. Unnecessary Scenes

Half the time, some scenes aren’t necessary, especially the slow motion, and the many showings of Third Mainland Bridge. I get promoting your city, but lets cut down with that a bit.

4. Naija Ninja

This was quite predictable, that the ninja who has been whooping chi-girl’s ass, went down when chi-girl fell on her. Like I knew what was going to defeat her was something silly 🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️. Plus, the ninja turning out to be igbo and all that stuff was just prolonging the movie, also one of my unnecessary scenes.

5. Dress

This one is a bit tricky, but am I the only one wondering, how that cloth chi-gurl wore for her performance sized her?. Wasn’t the cloth meant to be small for her, considering the mannequin it was taken from? 🤔

It wasn’t too hard to spot these errors, hopefully they fix up in other movies. Will i say B.I.G is a good movie? I think not, cause no content, but if you’re looking to crack your ribs, maybe it’s a yay. But we are tired of laughing all the time, we need content.

PS: Best scenes are, when the ghost was her automated driver, and when he put pills in Demola Edun and his side chics champagne. Hilarious!
